How Is Cel Animation Done?
I know that they are traditional hand-drawn animations… but how is this done for anime like Naruto or Avatar! It cannot be just form paper and pencil and some colors, right!?
Well, these days, traditional hand-drawn animations are enhanced using computers (‘digital ink’ is the term).
First they drawn by hands a rough animation using pencils and papers.
Then the old way have the rough animation smoothen using inks traced along the lines, then they colored the animation using colored inks.
However the new way is different, instead of using inks to smoothen and colored the rough animation, they scanned the rough animation into the computers and then use the computers to smoothen and colored the rough animation. Hence the term ‘digital ink’.
